How the calculation works
Distance is converted to kilometres and economy to litres per 100 km before calculating fuel volume.
Formula: Litres = distance in km ÷ 100 × L/100km. Imperial gallons = litres ÷ 4.54609.
Worked example
A 200 km journey at 6 L/100km needs approximately 12 litres.
