How the calculation works
Distance and speed are normalised to matching units. Driving time is distance divided by average speed, then breaks and delay are added.
Formula: Driving hours = distance ÷ average speed. Total time = driving time + breaks + delay.
Worked example
120 miles at an average 50 MPH takes 2 hours 24 minutes before breaks or delays.
What can affect the result?
Traffic, weather, roadworks, charging or fuel stops and safe rest breaks can change arrival time.
